About the School

The Village School is distinguished both by success in preparing girls for entry to leading public schools and also by the girls’ tangible enjoyment of a school life which interprets the term ‘education’ most broadly.

We give each of our girls the opportunity to thrive and develop confidence and self-esteem in an environment where individuality and good manners are highly valued. Every girl is different and we treat each child accordingly. We don’t believe in pushing our girls into one, rigid mould, neither do we believe in pushing children too hard, too young.

In this way, they learn to enjoy learning rather than seeing it as a chore, and develop their academic skills gradually until, by the time they are eleven, they are more than capable of entry into top London schools. We give them real choices at eleven, as our exam results show.

The Village School, as the name implies, is a very close-knit community developed from the intimate bond between staff, pupils and parents. Because we are small our dedicated teachers have time to spend with, and are focused on the individual, providing for their enthusiasms and their needs.

We are able to encourage girls to believe in themselves and their abilities – “everything is possible”. Achievement is a personal matter, whether it be cultural, sporting or academic.
